What is RESNET?

RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network) is a nonprofit that sets national standards for rating home energy efficiency. They created the HERS Index, the industry standard for measuring a home’s energy use. Lower scores mean better efficiency and more savings. 

Certified HERS Raters inspect and test homes using RESNET guidelines to provide accurate, third party energy ratings. This adds builder credibility and helps buyers understand home performance and long term energy costs.

What makes our Homes Energy Smart?

Starr Homes focuses on energy efficiency with attention to detail. We use superior caulk and exterior sealants, Typar house wrap for moisture and air barriers, and 2x6 exterior wall construction with an R-22 insulation value. The attic features R-50 insulation, and we incorporate an energy heel on the roof trusses. Our windows are triple low-e coated and argon-filled for superior insulation. We include a 95% efficient furnace, high-efficiency direct vent water heaters, and an ERV system for fresh air. R-12.7 insulated steel garage doors, range hoods venting to the outside, and a radon-reducing passive vent system complete the package.

Every home we build is inspected by a certified HERS rater. The ultimate HERS number reflects the percentage of energy consumption that the home uses. The lower the HERS score, the more energy efficient the home.
